The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest has an opportunity for aRESEARCH ASSISTANT LEVEL 2(12 months, Renewable Contract)70 Bi-Weekly Hours| Non-Union | Days ShiftsThe Rotman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function. The RRI advances the understanding of human brain structure and function in critical areas of cognitive neuroscience, including perception, memory, language, attention, and decision making. With a primary focus on aging and brain health, RRI scientists and trainees, and other clinician researchers across Baycrest, promote and impact effective care and improved quality of life for older adults through research into age- and disease-related behavioral and neural changes.About the RoleJoin a team of scientists and assistants running a CIHR-funded virtual study examining the cognitive benefits of an exercise and diet intervention in older adults. Participants will be recruited from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec, and will be randomly assigned to exercise and diet, exercise and control, diet and control, or a full control condition for six months of small group sessions, with cognition assessed at baseline, at 3 months, and at the end of the trial. For this role, we are looking for someone with a Master of Science or Master of Arts degree with research experience to lead the exercise and control sessions, and work with the broader team to ensure successful implementation of the study.Job SummaryReporting to Dr. Nicole Anderson, as well as her external collaborators, Dr. Laura Middleton of the University of Waterloo, and Dr. Guylaine Ferland of the University of Montreal, you will be responsible for assisting with participant recruitment, delivery of exercise and control classes (stretching and brain health education), and attending weekly team meetings to report on progress and any challenges, in addition to assisting with data entry and analysis. Teamwork, initiative, and a strong background in leading exercise classes, particularly with older adults, are essential.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
