Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Roadheader Operator to join our team for a major subway project in Toronto. The successful candidate will operate Mitsui S300 or Sandvik 520 roadheaders, contributing to the construction and excavation of new underground stations. Responsibilities:

  • Operate Mitsui S300 or Sandvik 520 roadheaders for tunneling and excavation activities.
  • Conduct pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on the roadheader equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform tunneling tasks as per project specifications, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the project team, including engineers, surveyors, and other operators, to ensure efficient and coordinated tunneling operations.
  • Monitor and adjust cutting parameters based on geological conditions and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and tunneling progress.
  • Identify and report any operational issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Regularly inspect the working area for potential hazards, such as unstable ground, water ingress, or gas emissions.
  • Participate in safety briefings, training sessions, and emergency response drills.
  • Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all team members comply with safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions promptly.
