Job Description

RQ09549 - Sr. Technical Writer Downtown, TorontoHybrid - 3 days onsite and 2 days remoteContract (7-8 months)Responsibilities:Creates professional technical project and user documentation, including systems and operational proceduresGeneral Skills Experience in the creation of technical project and user documentation, including procedures at the specified experience levelExperience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools and techniques and knowledge of industry standards and best practicesKnowledge and experience in developing on-line documentationKnowledge and experience with at least one platformKnowledge and experience with communications protocolsKnowledge and experience with tools for the creation, distribution and maintenance of project and user documentationExcellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills; and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate with cross functional teams (development, business, testers) and a wide range of audiencesAbility to create a quick start guide covering the main steps a user will followAbility to create a detailed configuration/administrative guide to users covering all details requiredExperience and ability to create a glossary or list of terms and definitionsExperience with office automation suites, presentation tools, and at least one authoring packageA team player with a track record for meeting deadlinesProficiency in English Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards Skilled at using standard technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office and/or Adobe Technical Communication SuiteMust-Haves:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with documentation tasks for Azure cloud architecture and infrastructure design, familiar with networking, firewall, storage, backup and disaster recovery design.
  • Experience in the creation and editing of technical project documents including architecture artefacts based on existing systems or design concepts from senior team members.
  • Skilled at using standard technical writing tools such as Power Designer, Microsoft Visio, UML and/or Adobe Technical Communication Suite
  • Public sector experience
Nice-to-Have:
  • Proficiency in French
