Job Description

The primary role of the Screener is to greet and screen all patients, families and visitors that enter the Providence Healthcare site of Unity Health Toronto for any potentially communicable diseases.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screen all persons wishing to enter Providence Healthcare using a standardized screening tool
  • Adhere to necessary policy and procedures related to wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Verify staff eligibility for entrance into the hospital by verifying employment status with hospital ID
  • Ensure all persons entering the facility follow proper precautionary measures and wear the correct protective apparel as required
  • Refer individuals to advanced screening if required
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights), 7 days per week
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors and to stand for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to wear protective apparel (mask, gloves and gowns)
  • Demonstrated strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Sound judgment and conflict management skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with a variety of people in a team environment
  • Second language(s) is an asset
