Job Description

On this team, you will work to ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and organization of our total wellbeing data products. Technology is at the heart of what we do at TELUS Health, and our sophisticated data acquisition, discovery and delivery infrastructure is the foundation of our success. The Senior Analytics and Reporting Specialist role requires an individual with a minimum of 3-5 year of experience who possesses an advanced degree in analytics or equivalent field coupled with business acumen. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with business partners and have subject matter expertise with strong experience in researching, designing and implementing data models and statistical algorithms to analyze diverse sources of high dimensional and fast moving data to build continually learning systems. They must have a technical background and experience in big data, advanced analytics, machine learning, data discovery, data preparation and visualization.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and/or partner with clients in planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, administering, and evaluating BI solutions, including big data solutions, open data, queries, reports, dashboards, and other visualizations based on stakeholders needs
  • Leverage business and statistical knowledge to transform data into information
  • Elicit, document, and confirm business requirements and technical specifications
  • Define reporting and dashboard standards for the integration and governance of enterprise data
  • Design metadata management programs and scripts
  • Define and evaluate conceptual, logical, and physical BI solution architectures
  • Design business information structures (cubes, dimensions, facts, tables, etc.)
  • Perform data quality assessments, data transformation, and data cleansing
  • Develop test scripts and perform testing of BI solutions
  • Mentor and coach clients and Client Success team members on BI knowledge and skills
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of extensive knowledge and skills of Cognos (v11) or Power BI report design and development, Framework manager, Query Studio, Reports Studio, creation of dashboards, etc. Other reporting tools would also be an asset, particularly Crystal Reports and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Business intelligence and data analytics, data warehouse design, development and support
  • Experience with Data quality, data profiling and duplication management, and health data systems
  • Experience with Informatica for data extraction, transformation, and loading, initial setup and other ETL management and support, such as troubleshooting, performance tuning, failover and recovery would be an asset
  • Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, optimized database queries, and data architecture and data modeling and mapping would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in conducting technical evaluation and assessment of options for technical design issues, application figuration aspects and integration capabilities, related tools and utilities, gap analysis of integration components to technical requirements / specifications / documentation
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong consulting skills to engage with all stakeholders
  • Proven track record for building strong working relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills, including tact and diplomacy to ensure client needs are managed effectively
  • A motivated, flexible, creative team player with perseverance, excellent multi-tasking abilities and a proven track record for meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience using big data batch and streaming tools
  • Expert knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and work with minimal direction, with the proven ability to coordinate complex activities
  • Cognos SDK experience and Java knowledge is an asset
