Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a qualified Senior Construction Safety Officer to join our Construction team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Senior Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for performing construction assurance and compliance activities, support Health and Safety compliance activities in collaboration with Project Managers and Construction Managers and have the opportunity to work on Ontario Line, Metrolinx Project.Join us in this full-time permanent role and be a champion of diversity and inclusion.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities:

  • Perform construction assurance and compliance activities on the assigned Projects,
  • Support Health and Safety compliance activities by work closely and in collaboration with Project Managers and Construction Managers in all stages of the assigned Projects to proactively plan by developing, implementing, and managing strategies for the safe execution of the works,
  • Support Project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and to implement effectively for the safe execution of the works,
  • Perform formal inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the relevant OHS legislation, standards and contract requirements,
  • Provide day to day oversight for on-site construction work conducted by contractors to assess contractor compliance against the relevant OHSA legislation and contract requirements, support with the identification of hazards and implementation of risk mitigation controls,
  • Review site activities and provide support for the protection of workers as well as public, infrastructure, and operations,
  • Engage, coordinate, and work with Integrated Project Team and internal/external stakeholders to provide consistent and continuous support,
  • In collaboration with the Integrated Project team, review, analyze and outline construction activities and work areas to ensure safe and efficient delivery,
  • Participate and/or support others with incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions,
  • Manage day to day activities of Construction Safety Officers in the assigned Projects,
  • Assist the Safety Director and with other tasks as required.
