Growth marketing efforts at Kobo advance at an incredible pace and we pride ourselves on using the latest digital strategies to deliver ongoing value for the organization. Our team’s core objectives are to drive global customer acquisition directly through the Kobo website and apps.Reporting to the Director of SEO, the SEO Specialist will assist with our internal team to execute on highly effective SEO strategies across all geographies and business verticals, including a-la-carte eBooks, audiobooks, and our subscription products. This role demands an individual with exceptional organizational, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving qualities, along with deep subject matter expertise in organic search.As the SEO Specialist, you will play an important role in shaping the future of Rakuten Kobo’s long-term growth and profitability by developing and refining organic growth strategies. You will work with the SEO Director to set the strategic direction and gain more momentum for sustainable growth in almost every country across the world by developing, planning, and executing on our SEO roadmap. You will partner closely with colleagues in product, engineering, big data/analytics, performance marketing and more to deliver on our vision, so cross-functional collaboration is critical to success in this role. You Will Be Responsible For

  • Collaborate with SEO Director on designing, growing, and continually optimizing Kobo’s global technical SEO strategy, with a focus on scaling across multiple geographies and languages.
  • Perform keyword research and competitive analysis across important regions
  • Understand and implement technical SEO audits and changes
  • Developing and implementing on page / off page optimizations
  • Devise and execute methods to track, report, analyze and improve SEO performance
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to implement necessary features and changes
  • Develop new SEO tests and strategies with the development team
  • Present and communicate SEO strategies and projects to internal stakeholders
  • Keep up to date with latest SEO trends, strategies, and algorithm changes
The Skillset Required
  • 3+ years of proven experience in SEO
  • Strong SEO Technical Skills (crawling, rendering, and indexing, redirects/migrations, site structure and navigation, page speed etc.)
  • Experience managing and implementing On Page optimization (meta data, internal linking, content, and URL optimization)
  • High level knowledge of Off-Page optimization & outreach strategies to increase SEO authority
  • Data driven, analytical mind, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated with an outstanding work ethic.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral presentation.
  • Strong understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition
  • Experience working with developers, product managers and cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Office an excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in SEO Tools: Screaming frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Advanced Web Rankings
  • Excellent Skills in Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Up to date with latest SEO trends and search engine algorithms
  • Fundamental understanding of underlying product technologies (HTML, CSS, JS).
  • Knowledge of SEM is an asset
  • ASO experience and Python skills are assets.
