Nights 2. Nights and following days off: 1. Sunday/Monday 2. Friday/Saturday (Various) from various work reporting locations (Davisville Yard, Wilson Yard), which may vary as directed by work assignments.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performing varied and routine construction, maintenance, reconstruction and repair work on stations, bridge structures, tunnel structures, elevated guideways, retaining walls, slabs, and assisting with formwork etc.
  • Assisting Structure Mechanics with site and material preparation, core drilling, chemical injection grouting, external soil grouting, caulking and sealing, structural steel repairs, concrete repairs, concrete placement and finishing.
  • Cleaning of track supporting subway structures and stations, abrasive blast cleaning; and the operation of trucks, forklifts, front-end loaders and other maintenance equipment.
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Training normally obtained through the completion of a Grade 12 education (technical program) or its equivalent as defined by the Training & Development Department
  • Ability to comprehend verbal/written instructions, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to exchange information and instructions with the Transit Control Centre
  • Practical experience and knowledge of bridge/structure repairs involving abrasive blast cleaning, structural steel repairs/coating; layout/placement of reinforcing steel, use of concrete materials, injection grouting etc. This would normally be acquired through approximately 24 months of structural repair experience
  • A valid non-probationary Class "G" Province of Ontario Drivers Licence
  • As the successful bidder, you will be required to attend and successfully complete training programs such as Subway/SRT Rule Book certification, WHMIS certification, Class DZ licence/truck driving operations, forklift truck operations, and front-end loader operations
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
