Job Description

Fengate is seeking a Manager, Tax to join the Corporate Finance team in support of the firm’s tax requirements at both (a) corporate and (b) fund and investments of all three business lines – Infrastructure, Real Estate and Private Equity. Reporting to the Director, Tax, the individual will be responsible for supporting the firm’s tax reporting and analysis while helping guide the tax strategy for the firm, its funds, and portfolio investments. The individual will interact closely with the asset management and investments teams, the corporate finance team, and external tax consultants. This role offers the opportunity for someone to leverage their in-depth tax knowledge to impact returns for our investors and the firm. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has a strong commitment to deadlines and the team, is detail and process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work.They will have a strong finance/accounting foundation and experience in the strategic application of effective corporate and investment fund tax strategies and be able to effectively manage workflow and expectations, especially when ad-hoc requests arise.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a subject matter expert and key liaison internally (investments, due diligence, compliance, fund accounting, etc.) and externally on all tax compliance and advisory related matters across the firm, the funds, and the investments across the three business units – Infrastructure, Real Estate and Private Equity
  • Collaborate with the Director, Tax in managing tax risks and support the execution of the firm’s tax strategy to position our firm and funds to deliver returns to our investors.
  • Working with tax advisors, manage all tax due diligence questions from prospective LPs.
  • Keep current with proposed new tax legislation impacting the firm, its funds or its investments and assess impact of these changes.
  • Contribute new ideas to develop best in class processes and procedures.
  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects and other ad-hoc financial and tax analysis as requested.
RequirementsKEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, specializing in tax or other relevant technical discipline with minimum of 4 years of experience
  • CPA designation required
  • Completion of CPA In-depth Tax Program required (or currently enrolled with high likelihood of successful completion)
  • Tax and accounting experience in the investment fund industry is highly preferred
  • Experience in FATCA, CRS highly preferred
  • Experience in HST in investment fund industry preferred
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with respect to managing workload and professional development
  • Excellent analytical, and problem-solving ability
  • Exceptional quality standards and an ongoing desire to push for new approaches, insights, and presentation methods
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines as a part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to handle high volume and fast paced requests from different stakeholders and the ability to time manage, prioritize, and manage expectations
