Requisition ID: 168694Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The team:Scotiabank’s Global Technology Solutions’ (GTS) Data Centre Operations is responsible for the support of the bank’s data centres / critical facility spaces - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.The role:The Technical Analyst is accountable for supplying the technical support and knowledge required for ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and project involvement in support of our business partners, while ensuring service availability targets are met and/or exceeded. You will play a critical part in monitoring, maintaining & responding to emergencies at data centres & critical facility spaces.When required, this role will provide 24x7 extended after hours support for engagement in real-time troubleshooting/resolution of incidents. This will include installing & removing servers; as well as break fix work on servers (i.e., power supplies, memory, CPU, etc…) In addition, processing Data Centre requests and responding to inquiries and emails from internal business partners and external vendors.As this is a critical 24x7 operations environment, you must be willing to:

  • work onsite at primary locations in downtown Toronto & in Etobicoke
  • travel onsite to our various data centre locations & critical facility spaces in Toronto, Scarborough, Markham & Barrie
  • primarily work rotational 12-hour shifts on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, which may cover mornings to afternoons, late afternoons to evenings or overnight, including weekends & statutory / bank holidays
  • work, when required, to cover a staff absence or shifting priorities, on rotating shifts that can vary between 5 workdays x 8 hours or 3 workdays x 12 hours
  • attend training sessions that initially run 5 days x 8 hours

  • You thrive in a technical operations environment that is tied to deliverables around pre-determined Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) & Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • You’re willing to provide constructive input for shift turnover to lead personnel and replacement teammates.
  • You are committed to remain current with all procedures and provide input as appropriate.
  • You can perform floor sweeps to search for media as needed, which may include searching under/on top of equipment, under raised floor tiles etc.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role
  • You possess strong communication (verbal/written) skills. Furthermore, you also have good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • You have at least 1 year of hands-on technical working experience with the installation & removal of network cables in a raised floor or top of rack environments.
  • You have at least 1 year of hands-on working experience in providing Level 1 or 2 technical support in an operations environment.
  • You can independently physically lift & move equipment, which can be done, where accessible, with the aid of a lift or a dolly.
  • You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • You are proficient in the use of MS Office productivity tools, and in particular, the use of MS Outlook to monitor & to respond to emails.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in technology or networking is an asset. As are HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning) or Electrical or Emergency Power Supply (EPS) / Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) courses / certifications.
