Our diverse team of actuaries, software engineers and product managers are committed to maintaining high-quality customer engagement.Role/ResponsibilitiesAn expert with document design (MS Word and PowerPoint) and version control, the ideal candidate is a detailed-oriented technical writer and editor with a passion for creating and maintaining documents in a software development environment (www.ggy.com). Core tasks will include preparation and maintenance of Release Notes, User Guides, PowerPoint presentations, and online training materials. SharePoint development and maintenance is also an asset. The Technical Communication Specialist will assist with:

  • Developing frequent software Release Notes, Help Text, and external/internal corporate communications for AXIS actuarial software (www.ggy.com)
  • Developing Knowledge Management materials, both print and electronic, especially User Guides and training materials (HTML/CSS, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint)
  • Developing web-based training materials and e-learning materials including video and audio production (Premiere, Snagit, etc.)
  • Developing the company intranet in a SharePoint environment, including customization and modification of SharePoint templates, permissions, and UI/UX (MS SharePoint)
  • Documenting various internal and external information in a detail-oriented software development environment
  • Graphic design and web-content development (HTML/CSS, Photoshop)
  • Internal/External Survey Preparation
  • Conducting research to develop articles pursuant to corporate objectives
  • Database maintenance
Qualifications
  • Related degree in communications and/or business is preferred (additional formal education in IT and/or web development is desirable)
  • Three years relevant experience focused on technical writing/editing and documentation management in a software development environment is preferred
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills along with excellent time management and analytical skills
  • Superior Microsoft Office skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with SharePoint and web development (HTML/CSS) is an asset
  • Experience with financial modeling, project management, leadership, and organizational skills is an asset
  • Experience with graphic design and multimedia development (Adobe Creative Suite, SnagIt), with a great attention to consistency in document design and maintenance
  • The ability to multi-task with meticulous attention to detail in a proactive and timely manner
