This leader will leverage leading-edge capabilities to build a profitable Portfolio that is well positioned for long-term success.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Champion and model our Liberty values and Guidelines for Inclusion to drive market leading culture and ensure positive employee engagement.
  • Accountable for setting underwriting strategy for Automobile and Garage lines of business (thequot;Portfolio quot;) for Canadian clientele.
  • Develop commercial auto products, including US cross-border solutions, that will be sought out by middle market and large account clients.
  • Optimize the Portfolio to achieve Liberty #39;s business objectives in terms of profitability and growth.
  • Drive a culture of underwriting excellence and data-driven decision making across underwriting teams.
  • Leverage innovative analytic tools including generative AI to improve the selection of risk, ease of doing business, and to drive efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain underwriting guidelines, appetite clarity, rating/pricing standards, pricing model validation and training materials.
  • Support the recruitment, retention, and development of talent through active mentorship and coaching, providing feedback to Underwriting leadership on capability development opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to underwriters across Canada on both a portfolio and referral basis. Develop the underwriting team #39;s product line and technical knowledge.
  • Keep abreast of industry and product trends, regulatory changes, and the competitive landscape to shape the Portfolio strategy.
  • Engage with key brokers and clients on a national basis to enhance Liberty #39;s reputation as a technically proficient, client-centric, solutions provider.
  • Collaborate with other Global Risk Solutions (GRS) stakeholders in order to share best practices and leverage knowledge / expertise for the advancement of the business.
  • Perform special projects and other duties to assist in ensuring the success of the Underwriting Division.
Skillsamp; Qualifications:
  • A university degree.
  • CIP or FCIP designation preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in progressive underwriting roles at a leading P amp;C insurer or reinsurer.
  • Deep knowledge of auto or other casualty lines.
  • Experience developing products for medium and large account clients with cross-border exposures.
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytic tools to improve the performance of the business.
  • Experience managing portfolios of risk that have performed well over the long-term.
  • Strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Contributed to business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial, claims, and risk management considerations.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to present to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience operating in a large organization with a matrix reporting structure. Experience leveraging expertise and capabilities across an organization.
