The writer will contribute to a centralized editorial commerce team responsible for creating and distributing content across the various brands and platforms at Verizon Media.You will be an expert in one of six lifestyle categories: s tyle & beauty, parenting, fitness & wellness, home & living, tech and/or personal finance. You will create everyday commerce content as well contribute commerce content for key tentpoles (e.g. Prime Day, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Holiday), programs, and franchises. Forms of content include deals, trends, tent-pole activations, evergreen SEO content, social-first commerce content, and content in service of strategic partnerships, programs, and franchises. Where relevant, centralized commerce content will be disseminated to brand editors who will edit/repurpose into their individual brand voices and tailor to their specific audience(s).Must have previous professional writing/editing experience. Previous experience in product journalism or eCommerce is strongly preferred, but not required.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Executive Editor, Commerce, you’ll pitch, write, report, research and update commerce stories that are smart, informative, engaging, topical and meet our editorial commerce guidelines and standardsBe the centralized editorial commerce team’s resident in-house commerce expert in one of six lifestyle categories, including: style & beauty, parenting, fitness & wellness, home & living, tech, personal financeProduce several top-notch commerce stories a week and optimize content for SEO, engagement and revenueIdentify daily deals and key shopping trends within your category to create high value content that will be wired to brand editors on a daily basisPitch stories across the VMG commerce ecosystemWork with other commerce writers and editors across the VMG commerce ecosystemParticipate in lively and researched brainstorms for new story ideas and topic focusesJuggle multiple projects and stories at once with varying deadlinesQualificationsAt least 1 to 3 years of experience writing and editing lifestyle content in a newsroom setting, with an understanding of (and appreciation for) online shopping, internet trends and cultureAn expert in one of six lifestyle categories, including: style & beauty, parenting, fitness & wellness, home & living, tech, personal financeExperience writing and editing everything from voice-y, first-person stories to in-depth, researched and reported SEO storiesStrong knowledge of SEO and best practices for optimizing contentDeadline-driven, strategic thinker with strong editing skills and a knack for crafting click-y headlinesExcellent copy editing skillsExperience working in a CMSSelf-motivated, with the ability to work with others and independentlyAbility to be nimble and adjust quickly while planning ahead for tentpole events and news cyclesBe motivated, curious and self-startingBe extremely organizedBe ready and willing to pivot as we test new ideasBe an ideas machineBe a trend spotterBachelors degree requiredVerizon Media is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
