About the role As Fable’s Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in enabling our Revenue team and guiding the organization through a range of legal, regulatory, and strategic challenges and opportunities. You’ll draft and negotiate Enterprise commercial SaaS contracts, develop and maintain approaches to legal compliance and risk management (GDPR, A.I. controls), and advise teams on how to navigate legal considerations in a fast-paced, scale-up environment. Your practical approach to legal problem-solving and negotiation will help ensure that our legal strategies are aligned with Fable’s operational realities and growth plans. For this role, we are looking for applicants who live in Canada, are in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and can work close to the EST time zone (and willing to align on West Coast and European timezones, when needed). If you believe that you match the majority of this job description, we highly encourage you to apply! RequirementsResponsibilitiesManage commercial legal with customers and prospects

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to Fable’s accessibility platforms (Enterprise SaaS) and related services
• Review and negotiate agreements related to privacy (ex. data processing addendums), aligning terms to compliance obligations and internal operations
• Lead the commercial legal process, managing redlined agreements and communicating with internal and external stakeholders
• Support the Sales Team (Account Executives, Renewalsamp; Growth) with negotiation and legal insight
• Review and update commercial templates periodically to ensure accuracy and relevance based on established and emerging industry best practices

Manage business risk and compliance related to commercial legal matters

• Partner with Security team to assess and reduce technical and data risks, including support of breach incident response process
• Monitor future technical and product development for compliance and risk implications
• Ensure company compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
• Respond to legal and regulatory complaints or inquiries, including customer concerns

Align and influence business goals

• Communicate important legal updates and processes across teams in clear language
• Advise on regulatory and legal issues affecting Fable’s strategic business decisions
• Report on commercial legal risks to senior leadership periodically
• Make business-aligned legal recommendations based on operational context
• Stay up to date on relevant legal developments (e.g., privacy law, AI litigation)
• Coordinate and collaborate with external counsel for specialized legal advice in other areas of practice (e.g., privacy law, international matters, employment)

Key qualifications

• Active member in good standing with Law Society of Ontario.
• Minimum 2 experience at a law firm or in-house legal counsel role
• Proven experience in commercial contract negotiation and drafting
• Experience with B2B SaaS offerings and selling to enterprise customers
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in a high-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy
• Skilled at communicating legal advice clearly to non-legal stakeholders
• Commitment to continuous learning, especially in emerging legal and technology areas
• Sound business judgment and ability to align legal guidance with company goals and risk strategies
