Job Description

This is your opportunity to join our high-calibre, experienced group of professionals on a mission to re-imagine the future by changing the way that buildings are conceived and constructed.The Senior Construction Engineer is responsible for the design and full project delivery of temporary works associated with building bridges and other heavy civil structures. The Senior Construction Engineering will take on full project responsibility and work with contractors and owners to develop concepts and then see the project through to its successful implementation in the field. We recognize the importance of consideration for construction methodology in the design of permanent structures and purposefully have staff members retain fluidity between our construction engineering team and the permanent structure design groups. The Senior Construction Engineer may also be called upon at times to participate in the permanent design of bridges and other transportation structures. RequirementsWhat will you do

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously throughout project lifecycle, from client outreach through project completion.
  • Provide immediate engineering support to contractors in the field.
  • Review of complete and in progress works on construction sites.
  • Participate in development of in-house technical tools and guidelines.
  • Contribute to business development activities.
  • Assist in bid and proposal preparation.
  • Attend and conduct presentations for clients, owners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance to other engineers in the group.
  • Take responsibility for project financials, assist in invoicing, forecast resourcing for projects, and other project management duties.
  • Detailed global and local analysis for bridges and transportation structures and assessment of their interaction with temporary works.
  • Complete designs for construction engineering assignments such as, but not limited to, erection plans, jacking, demolition and deconstruction plans, formwork, falsework, support of excavation, access, etc..
  • Work with technicians to develop drawings and coordinate drafting work.
What do you need to succeed
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in civil/structural engineering.
  • A post graduate degree in structural engineering is considered an asset.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in the structural design and/or construction engineering for bridges and transportation structures.
  • Licence to practice as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario (P.Eng.). Licences in additional jurisdictions are considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in working with CAN/CSA S6 (Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code), AREMA, MTO standard practices and specifications, Metrolinx standard practices and specifications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations in a clear manner, listen effectively and adopt and integrate ideas from other team members, including clients and contractors.
  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects on time.
  • Ability to work on both small and large projects of varying durations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative workplace where work and resources are being shared.
  • Ability to rapidly switch between tasks and balance priorities of different clients.
  • Experience on site and working with contractors.
