Valard Construction LP is currently seeking local experienced Groundperson in Toronto Ontario. Valard Construction LP is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.The position will be Monday to Thursday, 10 hours days. It is a unionized position so successful candidate will need to be approved by union before we can officially offer the position.RequirementsGroundworkMust have a minimum of a DZ license and be able to provide a clear driver #39;s abstract (AZ is considered an asset) Must live within daily driving distance to/from GTAMinimum 2 years of Toronto Hydro utility work experienceAbility to work independently while following job requirementsMust have and maintain a clean driver’s abstractAble to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 75 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)Values safe work practices and holds others accountable for working in a safe mannerHard working, team-player attitude with attention to detail and above average customer service skillsCandidates must be available for on-call work and occasional evenings/weekendsPerform work in accordance with all organizational requirements, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring the highest standard of safety is upheld.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Grade 12 Education would be considered an assetDZ License MandatoryExperience working around heavy equipment would be considered an assetValid First Aid CertificateValid WHMIS CertificateWorking at Heights Certificate considered an assetConfined Space Training considered an assetKSA’S (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, and PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES):Effective verbal and listening communications skills and the ability to work with others.Attention to detail and high level of accuracyAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAbility to lift loads and equipment weighing in excess of 30 lbs using proper lifting techniquesMechanical abilityGood physical coordination and manual dexterityGood hearing and color visionBe physically fitAbility to work in confined spacesSelf – starter with initiativeAbility to work independently and as a team memberAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work at heights up to 100 feetAbility to work in varying extreme weather conditionsWillingness to travel to various job locations across CanadaPhysical endurance; must be competent with willingness to learn and adaptPlease note this job requires working long hours outside with concrete, dust, mud and water in adverse weather conditionsThis is a GTA based position, out of our Concord office.Must live in GTA or very close to Vaughan, ON.BenefitsValard Construction is an equal opportunity employer, committed to a diverse workforce.
