Compass Minerals operates 12 production and packaging facilities with nearly 2,000 employees throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Visit compassminerals.com for more information about the company and its products.We are currently hiring a 4 th Class Stationery Engineer (Boiler Operator) to join the team at our Unity facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals #39; Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company #39;s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. We #39;re proud to be one of Unity #39;s steadfast employers.How will you contribute to the team- Operation of Natural Gas High Pressure Water Tube Boiler and other Auxiliary equipment (ie. Pumps, etc.)- Operate Turbo-Gen and manage plant electrical load with Sask Power (utility)- Maintain maximum Boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading, and interpreting gauges, indicators, and steam flow meters.- Maintain air compressor systems (dryers, line pressure, oil levels, etc.)- Execute Water Treatment Program - Including conducting water tests, analyzing results and adjusting chemical dispensing.- Maintain records and reports relative to the operations of the plant #39;s Boiler systems- Make regular checks of plant equipment and make adjustments when necessary, perform routine repairs and equipment service as required.- Ability to understand manufacturer #39;s operating instruction books, follow complex oral and/or written instructions on proper plant operation- Clear understanding to accurately perform safety and regulatory responsibilities (i.e. equipment, safe work procedures, etc.)- Ability to demonstrate leadership in troubleshooting, repair and resolve operational issues- Support Maintenance activity as required- Cleaning duties as requiredQualificationswhat should you bring to the role- Minimum 4th Class Interprovincial Power Engineer #39;s certificate, recognized in the Province of Saskatchewan, with 3rd class preferred- Required to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.- Experience with turbine and generator operating in a cogeneration environment, in a process-related industry, be knowledgeable about process equipment and control systems, and be flexible to different task assignments.- The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task, have a high sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word- Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces.- Must be able to work in hot temperatures and climb steps as required- Stand while performing tasks- Sit for up to ¾ of the day monitoring video displays and meters when systems are running well- Bend or crouch throughout the work shift to work on equipment.- Infrequently lift up to 25 kg and move items short distances.- Push, Pull and Reach, with up to 36 kg of force, in all directions from ground level to above shoulder height, in order to adjust valves and make adjustments to equipment.- Climb flights of stairs/ladders between floors of the building multiple times a day.- Perform fine hand and finger movements to hold tools appropriately and make precise adjustments to equipmentWhat will you like about us- C* *ompensation and Benefits : We offer a competitive compensation package along with medical, dental, vision, disability, employee assistance program, and much more.- Prepare for your Future: Defined Contribution Pension Plan with company match and contribution.- Shared Core Values : Our employees share five Core Values in all we do: Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, Value Creation and High Performance.- Safety : We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive work environment as we strive toward Zero Harm for our employees, customers and communities.- Meaningful Work : What sets us apart is the work we do impacts daily lives - and every employee contributes.
