From the Canadian woodlands to the North American home building market, we strive for sustainability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a REGIONAL MANAGER to oversee our forestry operations and forestry activities for QUEBEC. This position is located in Val-dOr, Quebec.Reporting to the Regional General Manager, Quebec, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling forestry operations and forestry activities for Quebec.As a key ambassador of our culture and values, you will oversee all operations to enhance safety, competitiveness, profitability and customer satisfaction, with a constant focus on meeting prevailing quality and safety standards.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and engage the forestry team at our Matagami and Val-dOr sites and oversee contractual relations with our local forestry operation contractors and service providers to meet targets and improve overall performance in this sector while upholding occupational health and safety standards.
  • Supervise developed processes to meet forestry and environmental certification requirements (FSC, SFI and ISO 14001).
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the annual plan and the execution of the resulting forestry operations.
  • Prepare, submit and manage operating and capital budgets as well as budgets related to the operation and transportation of raw materials in order to meet specific performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with negotiated contracts including those related to logging, to wood loading and transportation, to the construction and maintenance of forest roads, and to service contracts, with the goal of maximizing operations.
  • Align material delivery schedules for the companys different sawmills in Quebec.
  • Play a key role in identifying and implementing organizational changes and in the areas of staff planning and employee hiring, onboarding, and skills development.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement sustainable solutions to improve the quality, productivity and efficiency of operations.
  • Work with teams in Ontario to develop applications and processes to harmonize forest operations in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Develop and train your staff by making optimal use of their talents and skills.
  • Coordinate and maintain regular contact with representatives from the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP), Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders in the territory, as well as beneficiaries of the guaranteed supply chain to maintain efficient harmonization activities.
  • Deal with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with and adherence to applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Represent the company with stakeholders, external collaborators, and the community.

Qualifications
  • Training in forestry or wood construction engineering or any other field of study deemed relevant or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in the forest industry in forestry and production operations, including human resources, budget, and project management.
  • Have held various positions in both forestry and production operations.
  • Have relevant experience in employee engagement and mobilization.
  • Relevant experience in continuous improvement principles, tools and projects.
  • Good knowledge of and proficiency with computerized systems, including the MS Office suite (Excel) and forestry applications software (GIS; ARCGIS).
  • Have a valid drivers licence.
  • Be available to travel on a regular basis.
