You are creative and resourceful to achieve the desired outcome of a prototype solution for visual & functional validation. You have the knowledge of technical apparel prototyping as well as combining hard goods & technowear design solutions within a final prototype. You are knowledgeable and experienced to use sewing and sealing machines, woodworking shop tools and are familiar with thermoforming techniques.The design solutions sought are aligned with our BRP design philosophy of highly innovative, functional and wow solutions that exceed consumer expectations while enhancing the overall experience of our riders & users. You will contribute to build and enhance the overall riding experiences of our users to outperform the previous paradigms of performance riding gear and technowear equipment.You will be part of a passionate & experienced team that strives to achieve excellence in all facets of design & engineering while working in a well defined stage gate process.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop samples, patterns and prototypes using cutting & sewing machines, shop tools, CAD software (Pad system or equivalent).Capacity to interpret, construct and shape an idea from a designers’ sketch, rendering, cross-section and pattern as well as through verbal communications.Ability to improve on a concept through the iterative process of refinements, testing and design reviews.Define best practices for prototyping within the realm of fabrics, textiles, semi-rigid and hard materials in order to construct a visual and/or working prototype.Capacity to suggest & problem solve complex issues within the construction and prototyping of technical apparel and technowear.Prepare and finish parts in different types of materials (fabrics & textiles, plastics, rubbers, EVA, Poron, etc) in order to assemble prototypes and/or presentation models.Work closely with design/development departments to maximize design for manufacturing (DFM) allowing for the best product possible within the project objectives.Involved in the development schedule and prioritize according to changing needs of design/development departments.Maintain a stock of supplies (fabric, zippers, webbings, foams, velcro, trims, etc.) to allow for immediate sample making when requests arise.Oversee the maintenance of sample room equipment as needed for sample making.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSD.E.C or D.E.P or equivalent, Bachelors Design.5+ years of experience in pattern making, sewing and prototyping.
