Job Description

ProjectThe Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.PositionReporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key leader in the company, assisting the Financial Controller with managing the day-to-day cash to cash cycle, core accounting and financial reporting requirements for Woodfibre LNG. The Senior Accountant will assist the Financial Controller to plan and direct accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, participate in the accounting and internal control systems. He/She will assist with the preparation of the annual budget and driving monthly performance evaluation. He/She will also be the lead liaise between Shared Services and onshore financeKey Responsibilities:The successful applicant will:

  • Assist with planning, implementing and overseeing the overall Financeamp; Accounting strategy.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review current processes and policies, identifying operational inefficiencies and inaccuracies/errors. Develop, and implement process and policy improvements, and develop, recommend and implement a robust system of internal controls.
  • Manage and take responsibility of all accounting operations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting and control systems.
  • Manage the Treasury activities including cash management.
  • Assist with the development of annual budget and operating plans, including the establishment of departmental budgets, forecasts, cost reduction initiatives/recommendations and financial analysis.
  • Working closely with Shared Services in Malaysia, ensure successful and complete monthly closing cycles in a proper and timely manner to reflect the financial position of the company, profitamp; loss, capital base, and reporting.
  • Perform other special ad hoc projects as assigned.
RequirementsRequired Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA designation;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience with 3 years of managing a team and external auditors, in a high growth company.
  • Experience in manufacturing, oil and gas or in a startup environment is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively within an intense, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High degree of accuracy, extremely detail oriented and ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with Shared Service Centres.
  • Ability to motivate the team members and bring people along the journey.
Additional Requirements:
  • Communication/interpersonal skills – interacting with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are key for success.
  • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.

  • Ability to be Innovative and vision-oriented with demonstrated ability to undertake strategic planning and implementation.

  • Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., MS Office), experience with SAP is a plus
  • Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.

  • A valid driver’s license and passport.
  • As required, the position is based in Vancouver, BC, with travel to the EPC contractor’s office in Houston, Squamish (site), and others.
