Job Description

This position will work closely with a small team of Operations staff and Maintenance personnel to support the development, review, and finalization of detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Your role will involve converting technical information into clear, consistent, and user-friendly documentation. As a key contributor, you will ensure that the SOPs meet professional standards and are aligned with operational requirements.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to review and refine SOPs and related documentation.
  • Edit and proofread technical content created by team members to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Convert high-level Operator Manuals into detailed step-by-step operating procedures using standardized templates and style guides.
  • Ensure all documents are aligned with established templates, maintaining a consistent tone and format.
  • Work in an office environment to enable quick adjustments and collaboration with operators and document contributors.
  • Provide guidance on document creation, editing processes, and best practices for professional writing.
  • Support Maintenance teams in creating and finalizing their procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to manage timelines and ensure the timely completion of all documentation.

  • Proven experience (minimum of 3-5 years) as a Technical Writer, with expertise in creating SOPs or technical manuals.
  • Experience with plant operations in a heavy industrial sector, preferably oil and gas, chemical processing, manufacturing, and mineral processing.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and best practices for technical documentation.
  • Strong skills in technical writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Familiarity with standardized templates and style guides.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in-office in Vancouver to maintain close collaboration with the Operations team.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes, maintenance, or operations is a strong asset.
