Job Description

Celebrating 62 years of BusinessWe Bring Food to Your Family’s Table!A full-time Dock Lead Hand position is available at our Montreal TerminalShift Details: Monday to Friday 6:30pm to 3:00pm.Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Dock Foreman, the Lead-Hand monitors all operational systems at the dock terminal and ensures the proper supervision of loading and unloading of freight.
  • Help assign dock personnel to sort product, load and unload freight. Schedule and arrange workforce requirements according to volumes. Validate any change of work schedule
  • Responsible for prioritizing incoming and outgoing freight. Manage delivery schedules and product holding.
  • Verify temperatures on all loads/reefers that are pulled from or to docking station.
  • Ensure that HACCP regulations are complied with and completed. Follow-up on any required HACCP orders.
  • Ensure shipping documents are completed.
  • Ensure and verify all that Truck/LTL/Trailers respect weight limitations as per transport regulations and restrictions.
  • Ensure that forklift checks are done at the beginning of the shift, reviews, and locks-out any equipment that is considered unsafe.
  • Ensure that shift reports and yard checks are completed and e-mailed at the end of the shift.
  • Must rapport any issue regarding employee discipline to the Dock Management.
  • Load or assist in loading appropriate freight onto delivery trucks or trailers and shrink wrap and block secure pallets when required. Ensure that appropriate bills are with skid.
  • Complete a walk-thru with the Dock Foreman on the following shift.
  • Complete paperwork on orders and respond to emails.
  • Participate in the training of new employees when required.
  • All other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience equivalent to the job description or in the transport/warehouse industry preferred.
  • Experience in management of personnel, attention to detail and a team player.
  • A positive attitude, dependable, on time for work, and respectful with clients or co-workers.
  • Provide a high level of customer service at all times.
  • Good understanding of safe work practices and ability to safely operate dock equipment.
  • Ability to use a forklift (Sit-Down electric, Stand-up Reach) a plus.
  • Knowledge of AS400
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Bilingual. English and French (preferred)
