Above all else, we believe in doing the right thing for our people, our communities and our planet.Reporting directly to the Director, Design and Vendor Management, the Manager, Sustainability will be responsible for ensuring Recipe maximizes energy and water intensity and efficiency by analyzing, planning, monitoring and improving consumption across all restaurant operations while ensuring we achieve our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) metrics and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) targets and achieving our return on investment targets. The Manager, Sustainability will review the current processes and equipment for all energy and water use and programs, identify and adopt energy and water efficiency solutions that reduce energy use, operation costs, greenhouse gas emissions, and develop a business case for innovations and improvement opportunities, rebate programs and potential maintenance and additional cost savings opportunities. The Manager, Sustainability will be a key member of Recipe’s Corporate Social Responsibility Steering Committee and will work with the Brand Operations teams and Shared Services teams to ensure tangible savings in energy and water consumption and management across all facets of the operations.What you will do in this role:Review current strategies, technology, tools, and processes related to energy and water use- by Brand, Department, equipment, facility, Province, etc.Prepare the Recipe Energy Management Plan that identifies top priorities, timing and strategy execution for initiatives to lower energy, water usage and carbon footprint.Provide recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team on business cases with return on investment and total cost of ownership for energy saving projects and new technologies, including capital improvement projects, operational projects and maintenance projects to support energy, water and include carbon emissionsBenchmark progress with hard evidence to support change in behaviours and positive resultsIdentify and manage appropriate utility and government rebates, funding, and programs across all Brands and Provinces to realize savings.Challenge the status quo on operations and preventative maintenance to ensure systematic training and actions resulting in savingsWork with the Operations teams to review, identify, create, and implement schedules and action plans to reduce energy and water costs and maintain long-term improvements.Coordinate the full lifecycle of energy efficiency projects, including sourcing of products/ vendors, coordinating consultants, drawings, budget and scheduling, maintenance, and execution of targeting savingsProvide recommendations to the Construction and Design Team to reduce energy and water use and costs for new products and exist facility retrofits and renovationsDevelop and execute a strategy for the measurement and verification of energy saving projects across all business facilities and ProvincesImbed energy management, education, and awareness into the organizational culture at all levels to provide Teammates with the opportunity to recognize and report issues and ideas regarding energy and water conservation and efficiencyEngage and work collaboratively with the Corporate Social Responsibility Team regarding ongoing strategy and reporting on progress and targets with a focus on carbon and carbon neutral operations in support of Recipe’s CSR goals and objectivesConduct regular monthly, quarterly and annual KPI reporting and communicate all energy and water consumption and progress across all levels of the organization, including the realization of business cases and manage and measure all key projects to achieve the goals that are set outWhat we are looking for from you:Professionally designated as a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist, Certified Energy Manager or a licenced professional engineer in the province of Ontario.University degree or College diploma in a Business related field or Sustainability field with additional consideration for the Hospitality industryExcellent background in industrial energy use and/or energy managementMinimum 3 years of experience in progressive related roles within a fast paced operations environmentExcellent design and functional knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing processesExperience with data gathering and effectively creating action plansHighly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneouslyFamiliarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office with an emphasis on reporting, project management and work planning, presentations, and Analytics toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and lead othersWillingness to travel within Canada/USA, as needed, and ability to accommodate operational needs, which may include evenings and weekends from time to timeMust possess a valid driver’s licence to attend trade shows and conduct facility and restaurant visitsWhat’s in it for you:You’d be joining a close-knit, innovative team of creative and energetic go-gettersYou’d be a part of Canada’s largest full-service restaurant company that leads the industry in size and innovation20% associate discount dining card and monthly dining allowance valid at participating Recipe brandsA welcoming, fun and safe work environment founded on respectCareer advancement opportunities with a company that owns some of Canada’s most iconic restaurant brandsIndustry-leading benefits, wellness programs, flex work and total rewards programsRecipe is committed to providing a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
