Job Description

System Administrator - InfrastructurePermanent Full-Time positionThere’s never been a better time to join Mackenzie Health! As we prepare to open our state-of-the-art Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, and continue to operate Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, we have an opportunity available for a System Analyst who shares our commitment to quality, patient-centred care. Ultimately, this is where you want to be.The System Administrator (Infrastructure) supports and maintains the various data storage and data protection systems, ensuring the health of the infrastructure and integrity of organization data. Moreover, this role will contribute to the optimization of processes surrounding the operations of these technologies and the lifecycle of organization data. This role will ensure enterprise scalability and performance for storage and backup environments through proactive capacity planning, performance control and configuration adjustment.Manage all Server & Storage and VMware infrastructure and Data Backup incidents and escalations from the Service Desk.Manage the installation, configuration and administration of storage array, SAN fibre-channel switch, blade chassis and server, vCenter and vSphere environment.Manage storage allocation, upgrades and optimization standards.Provide server and storage capacity forecasts based on usage and trending.Provide data backup related services, including DR activities.Monitor and respond to enterprise Data Center alerts via APC StruxureWare.Provide reports required by the business for storage and backup.Optimize data backup and storage system.Implement configuration changes across a variety of vendor platforms via Change Management.Monitor enterprise SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) system and responds to routine and emergency issues.Provide daily support and accept accountability for the performance and reliability of various cross-platform applications and services and ensure that system failures are restored in a timely manner, measured against SLAs.Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures, service outage workarounds and system safeguards.Participate in the assessment of new equipment, Installation and maintenance of data storage and backup hardware and software.Work closely with the Senior System Administrator to determine goals, objectives, initiatives and directions for the improvement of enterprise data network Infrastructure. Provide root-cause analysis and solution, contributes to the knowledge base, and provides recommendations for continuous improvements to workflow, process, resiliency, cost structure, and technology.Available to work outside of normal business hours in a 24/7 hospital environment and after-hours on-call are required.Other duties as required.Contribute to safe, quality care byManaging a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.Addressing and resolving issues in a productive, respectful manner.Exercising sound professional judgment and using best practice guidelines.Contributing to a safe, inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.What must you haveUniversity Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field.Active VMware VCP-DCV certification is required.ITIL certification is required or commitment to complete within six (6) months from date of hire.Minimum of 5 years overall IT experienceMinimum of 2 years of experience with SAN and Blade Server Infrastructure and VMware vSphere is required.Minimum of 2 years of experience with VMware vSphere.Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.What else do you bringExcellent hands-on experience with SAN and Blade Chassis Data Center Infrastructure and Operations.Excellent hands-on experience of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.Solid knowledge and experience with load balancing technology such as Citrix NetScaler.Excellent hands-on experience with Brocade Fibre Switch, CommVault Backup Solution, and APC StruxureWare.Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux/Unix.Excellent knowledge with Storage Network configuration and monitoring tools.Familiarity with PowerShell, or any other form of scripting and automation.PIPEDA/PHIPA compliance experience as it relates to network best practices and security as well as managing and complying to PIPEDA/PHIPA network controls.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and written in a professional manner.Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers.Proven organizational and time management skills.Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to learn and master new technology quickly and improve personal performance through continual self-study.Proven attendance record.Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring and values – Excellence, Leadership and Empathy.Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment.
