Job Description

Valard, is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.Reporting to the Manager - Support Services, the Tools, Equipment and Material Coordinator is responsible for providing support, tracking, inventory and coordination for Tools, Equipment and Materials supplied to the Supervisors and Field Crews. The work location for this role will be 0 Freshway in Concord, Ontario.RequirementsKEY (CORE) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Maintain Inventory of tools and equipment (in storage and on trucks)

  • Respond to inquiries for tools and equipment
  • Issue tools to Supervisors and Foremen tracking items and condition
  • Develop inventory and tracking system to be able to maintain control on volume and availability of items as needed.
  • Develop storage requirements for shop and trucks to ensure efficient use of tools and equipment
  • Ensure inventory available to meet future requirement
2. Maintain tool certifications and repairs
  • Organize tools and liveline rubber for certifications and/or repair
  • Evaluate and recommend repair or replacement to tools and liveline rubber goods
  • Evaluate and recommend new or used tool purchases
  • Ensure tools and equipment are to required standards, certifications
  • Track testing requirements and certification dates, advising Supervisors/Foremen of upcoming requirements.
  • Complete testing, repairs, tagging and inventory of ground chains.
3. Develop tool storage and standards of care
  • Continually look for improvements and ways to assist with tools and equipment efficient storage and usage.
  • Develop and maintain expense budget costs for inventory of tools and equipment
  • Develop standard tools and equipment inventory for bucket trucks, digger trucks, for use in overhead and underground powerline utility construction
  • Inform users of requirements for care and maintenance of tools and materials.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:4. Assist with inventory of spare equipment throughout the Area5. Assist with inventory of clothing, gloves, hardhats, small tools, etc:a. Items stored in Safety clothing roomb. Items stored in Tool room 6. Work with HRIS to control inventory of Safety Clothing room7. Assist with material storage and inventory control8. Develop material storage inside and outside of the building9. Maintenance of YardEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience and knowledge of tools and equipment required for overhead/underground powerline construction
  • Knowledge of standards and procedures for testing and maintenance of Tools and Materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications and Yard maintenance.
