DescriptionAjah is a technology social enterprise based in Montreal, Canada, that builds tools and services for the nonprofit sector. We focus on using and generating open and public data to help funders and nonprofits inform their programs and strategies. We also apply our unique expertise to systems-level issues and projects related to data and information in the nonprofit sector.In addition to consulting with organizations, Ajah leads multiple academic collaborations and initiatives focused on developing data and knowledge infrastructure for the nonprofit sector.Ajah’s founders have been at the forefront of community technology for the last twenty years. We have been internationally recognized leaders in the field of community wireless internet access, and open data for the nonprofit sector. We have been invited to speak and advise on these areas across North America and Europe over the past decade. In 2013, Ajah’s founders created the nonprofit initiative Powered by Data to help the nonprofit sector build open, shared data infrastructure through research, policy, and open government.About the positionAjah is growing and our business operations are growing with us. We are looking for a Bookkeeper who will join our Operations team, and bring a sharp eye to important aspects of our financial operations. This role will ensure our senior management, executives and project teams have effective tools, processes and support, and ensure that the organization is running effectively, both in terms of our people and systems.Reporting to the COO, the Bookkeeper will play a key role in developing the organization’s bookkeeping and financial reporting capacity.Our ideal candidate has prior experience with bookkeeping and finance operations at a startup or a nonprofit organization.
