This residence is a point of service of the West Montreal Readaptation Centre (WMC).The CROM is an establishment that aims at the social integration of people with an intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder in socio-professional and/or community settings by offering them the necessary support to achieve the maximum autonomy and the best quality of life possible. Thus, the ASSS will work with a clientele with an intellectual disability or a pervasive developmental disorder.The persons interested in this job must be available full time, including one (1) weekend out of two (2). And must be interested in working with an adult clientele with severe behavioural problems.The ASSS is a person who, within a group residence, assumes a set of tasks whose goal is to accompany and support the user or to compensate for his incapacities in the accomplishment of his daily activities. She also promotes the integration and socialization of the user in individual and community activities.As part of its duties, the ASSS :

  • Ensures the hygiene, well-being, comfort, supervision and general needs of users;
  • Is called upon to install certain equipment or to provide certain more specific care for which he/she has been trained;
  • Informs the persons in charge and the members of the team of his/her observations on the needs of the user;
  • In collaboration with the other caregivers, he/she participates in the identification of the users needs as well as in the development of the service or intervention plan and its implementation.

Requirements :The desired candidate:- Holds a DEP in Assisting Persons in the Home (APAD) or a DVS in Assisting Persons in Facilities and Homes (APED) - NO OTHER DIPLOMATE IS ACCEPTED;
  • Has experience with individuals with severe behavioural and/or autism spectrum disorders is an asset;
  • Is able to establish a therapeutic relationship with a French and English speaking clientele;
  • Has a drivers license and a car (mileage reimbursed);
  • Is properly vaccinated against COVID-19, unless contraindicated.
