Reason for Post :Maternity replacementPosition Status :Temporary - Full-timeWork Shifts :DayOrganization :CIUSSS de lOuest-de-l’Île-de-MontréalJob Territory :VerdunDivision :Mental Health and Addictions Programs DirectorateService :Rétablissement et intégration socialeReference number :CAT4-22-7456Number of days :Length of Assignment :Work Schedule :Salary :Number of positions available :1Job Category :Rehabilitation professional (occupational therapist, kinesiologist, speech therapist, physiotherapist, etc.)Posting Start Date :2022-10-02Posting End Date :2022-10-30Description :The Montréal West Island IUHSSC is looking for a Physical Activity Educator or Kinesiologist who wishes to put their skills to good use for a long term, full-time replacement to support people with mental health issues.As a physical activity educator or kinesiologist, you will be invited to join the team at the Roberts Centre, a sport facility, which is an integral part of the IUHSSC Recovery and Social Integration Service. The Recovery and Social Integration Program promotes the recovery and social integration of voluntary service users experiencing transient or persistent difficulties related to mental health. Its services are deployed in a transversal manner, i.e. with various other mental health services/clientele (e.g. eating disorders service/clientele, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, child psychiatry, adult and geronto-psychiatry, etc.).As a physical activity educator or kinesiologist, you will offer physical activity services adapted to the inpatient and outpatient clientele, whether they are children, adolescents, adults or seniors.In this role you will be called upon to:

  • Foster the development of a trusting relationship through your reassuring and caring approach;
  • Design safe physical activity programs adapted to the needs of the clientele in order to develop an independent practice of meaningful and sustainable physical activities;
  • Evaluate, create and implement programs, schedules and behavior management plans based on the specific needs of the users;
  • Promote the benefits of physical activity and healthy lifestyles to improve the health of clients;
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team (occupational therapists, kinesiologists, psychologists, peer helpers, etc.).

Requirements :
  • Hold a bachelors degree in physical education, kinesiology or another appropriate university discipline;
  • Ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with French and English-speaking clients;
  • Possess a valid drivers license and a vehicle and be willing to work in the community, an asset;
  • Experience in mental health, an asset;
  • Supervisor/Lifeguard certification for indoor pools, an asset.
