It allows a certain amount of freedom while remaining structured. In addition to helping the resident integrate healthy lifestyle habits (nutrition, hygiene, physical activity, sleep, etc.), the program includes teaching skills and strategies that are both useful and concrete (managing medication, budgeting, job search, energy management, stress management, etc.). It also provides accompaniment (to open a bank account, visit community resources, do errands, look for housing, etc.). The resident is thus progressively led to immersive experiences, in a safe and stimulating environment that allows him to gain confidence, motivation and autonomy. The objective is for the resident to reconstitute himself as a person, to regain power over his existence and to project himself into an autonomous life project before gradually reintegrating into the community.The URI program is designed for people whose serious and persistent mental health problems have been stabilized and who have the will and potential to invest in their rehabilitation.The URIs multidisciplinary team, composed of psychiatrists, nurses, practical nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, psychoeducators, educators, intervention agents and orderlies, uses the services of the pharmacy to offer pharmacological treatments as well as recognized, evidence-based, non-drug therapeutic interventions.As a psychologist, you will be called upon to conduct assessments, develop intervention plans and implement individual and group interventions based on a positive vision of the person, capitalizing on his or her strengths, skills and resources rather than on the illness and difficulties. In collaboration with the psychiatrist and the multidisciplinary team, you will develop individual intervention plans. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Douglas Institutes Centre for Personalized Psychological Intervention in Psychosis (FR : Centre d’intervention psychologique personnalisée pour la psychose (Ci3P )).Thanks to your particular professional identity, you will enrich the teams perspective by sharing the approaches, tools and knowledge specific to psychology. In exchange, you will benefit from an open, dynamic and stimulating environment that encourages innovation.Take advantage of this great career opportunity to benefit from these numerous advantages:

  • The stability of a permanent job;
  • A part-time job (1 day/week) that can easily be combined with another job;
  • Competitive salary (from $26.43 to $49.82/hour, depending on experience) to which bonuses may be added (e.g. bonus for psychiatric clientele);
  • Four (4) weeks of vacation after one year of full-time employment;
  • Thirteen (13) statutory vacations and 9.6 sick days for a year of full-time work (full-time positions only; fringe benefits are paid to part-time employees);
  • Five (5) additional floating days for work in a designated psychiatric setting (prorated to hours worked for part-time employees);
  • Participation, with the employer, in a defined benefit pension plan to ensure a reliable retirement income;
  • Group insurance coverage (life, health, salary);
  • Access, for the employee and his or her family, to a free employee assistance program;
  • Access to ongoing training (formal training, supervision, coaching, etc.);
  • Extensive career development opportunities with the possibility of applying to internally posted positions;
  • A teaching and research environment through Douglas affiliation with McGill University;
  • Parking available for less than $1 per day;
  • Employee cafeteria;
Workout room and pool with employee-only areas (not accessible during pandemic);
  • Enchanting environment on a heritage hospital campus lined with Victorian buildings and century-old trees, on a vast 65-hectare site where you will encounter sculptures, gardens and migratory birds. Directly facing the river, you can enjoy the walking paths and picnic areas of the St-Lawrence Banks.
Requirements :
  • Hold a masters or doctoral degree in psychology or a degree deemed equivalent by the competent authorities;
  • Be registered on the Roll of the Ordre professionnel des psychologues du Québec;
  • Be able to establish a therapeutic relationship with a French and English-speaking clientele;
  • Have experience in mental health;
  • Demonstrate knowledge related to clients suffering from severe and persistent mental health disorders, particularly with regard to assessment methods and tools;
  • Possess the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
