ACTING PRINCIPALVERMILION ELEMENTARY SCHOOLApplications are invited from experienced/aspiring administrators to fill the position of Acting Principal at Vermilion Elementary School in Vermilion, Alberta effective November 1, 2021. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, administrators are integral members of our team, responsible for site-based management and educational leadership.By virtue of the submission of an application, the applicant agrees that the Superintendent or designate can contact previous employers for the purpose of conducting confidential reference checks whether or not the applicant has listed a reference for that employer. An acceptable, original criminal records check with vulnerable sector check will be a condition of employment.The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:Hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate;Demonstrate successful administrative experience/leadership training in addition to possessing the ability to support, promote and guide staff development and professional growth;Be an innovative leader conversant in the current trends on the educational landscape;Be an effective communicator and dynamic leader with an appreciation for rural communities;Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of building relationships with students, staff and parents through active interaction both in the school and in the community;Work collaboratively to address the challenges that come with a growing school community;Possess a team-oriented leadership style that demonstrates both a willingness to be actively involved in school activities and a commitment to supporting those taking a leadership role;Have knowledge of experience in a variety of approaches in addressing literacy, numeracy, mental health literacy in early learning educational settings;Possess strong organization and problem-solving skills and is an effective team-builder;Have working knowledge of school based budgeting and site based decision making;Have knowledge regarding outcomes based assessment and reporting practices;Have an awareness of “Powerschool” student information and reporting;Postgraduate study in the areas of educational administration or curriculum and instruction would be an asset.Vermilion Elementary School offers full programing with excellent learning experiences for over 200 students in Kindergarten to Grade 6.
