  • Under the guidance of livestock researchers provide technical support for research projects, academic lab activities, and day to day college farm chores as applicable to research projects.
  • Major tasks involve operating agricultural equipment, animal handling, animal health checks, organizing and maintaining research lab areas, and collecting, storing and transporting samples; all under various research protocols.
  • Other duties include entering data into electronic databases and reports, assisting with preparation of research reports and directing invoices and other paperwork to ensure timely submission.
  • Research activities center around following approved protocols for research as well as animal care, animal and human safety and biosecurity.
Job Requirements
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Animal Science or a related field.
  • Experience with animal husbandry and working with large animals such as beef, dairy and equine.
  • A basic understanding of animal research designs, data-collection methodologies and an aptitude for emerging technological applications or tools.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills.

Additional InformationThis is a 16 month Full-time Temporary AUPE appointment with a possibility of extension commencing November 15, 2021.
