JOB SUMMARYThe Early Childhood Educator provides a solid and safe foundation for children which fosters their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, creative and very necessary cultural development.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEducation Program
  • Plan and prepare a quality program based on the centre’s philosophy
  • Plan, organize and lead daily activities designed to stimulate the intellectual, physical and emotional growth of children
  • Liaise with parents, co-workers and other professionals to meet the needs of the children
  • Use guidance techniques that are age-appropriate, fair, and encourage socially acceptable behaviour
  • Administer basic First Aid as required
  • Participate in the planning and implementing of special events and workshops
  • All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Attend centre staff meetings
  • Maintains records concerning individual children, attendance, child observations, etc.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONSEducation
  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate or Diploma
  • Current First Aid Certificate as per Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulations
  • Current Certificate from the BC Child Care Registry to work as an ECE Educator
Experience
  • Experience working with children under the age of six, preferably in a daycare centre
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset
Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the Okanagan culture and traditions.A Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerability Sector), Vaccine Passport and 3 References are required.Quick Apply
