BCFIRB is responsible for:General supervision of agricultural commodity boards that regulate sectors accounting for more than 45% of BC’s agriculture farm gate sales; Being a signatory to formal federal-provincial cooperation agreements in regulated marketing; hearing and adjudicating appeals of agricultural commodity board decisions under the Natural Products Marketing (BC) Act; hearing and adjudicating appeals related to animal custody seizures under BC’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act; hearing and adjudicating farm practices complaints under BC’s Farm Practices Protection (Right to Farm) Act; and, conducting farm practices studies.The Board is composed of an OIC appointed Chair and OIC appointed members supported by full-time staff. Job Requirements:Degree or diploma in business administration, public administration, financial management or other related discipline, and *related experience; OR An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.Related experience includes at least three (3) years in each of the following:Providing administrative support and office management services. Preparing and managing budgets (including forecasting) and contracts, and providing other financial services. Experience leading others.Preference may be given to applicants with the following:Greater than three years related experience. Experience with CAS and information management systems. Experience in adjudicative, regulatory or legislative environments. Experience working in a government office. Experience working with an administrative tribunal or other independent office. Experience in interpreting and applying rules, policies and/or procedures. Experience working in an executive environment, including providing administrative support to senior executive.
