Job Description

Archivist, RecordRetention Specialist Co-opOpen to students registered in a recognized co-op program onlyBC Pension Corporation, Victoria BC

  • Duration: Fall 2024 (September to December)
  • Location: Victoria (our office is situated on the Selkirk Waterfront on the Gorge Inlet. Enjoy stunning views of downtown Victoria and the Olympic mountains and take advantage of the nearby Galloping Goose Regional Trail for walking and biking).
  • Salary: $1,873.69 bi-weekly (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor #39;s degree) or $2,200.99 (for students working towards a post-graduate degree).
  • Grant: As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.
  • Hybrid Work Model: Employees are supported to work part of their time from home and part of their time on campus to encourage flexibility, performance and connection.
  • Skills for Success Program: Engage with other co-op students in a monthly virtual event designed to build connection and community while developing skills to support your success.

  • Team: The branch mandate is to provide an integrated, consistent and personalized service experience for members across all BC public sector pension plans through various channels, with a digital first approach. Service channels include online requests, member calls, written and email enquiries. Communication channels include plan websites, digital and print products, online and instructor led educational webinars, e-learning modules, instructional and training programs, secure portals (My Account and Employer Portal), animated videos, and distribution of digital and print communications products. Member Services and Experience (MSE) is comprised of the Member Services Centre (the multi-channel contact centre), the Client Education Program (curriculum design, online and instructor led webinar education for members), Form Team (create and update all forms for the corporation), the Member Support Services team (intake of member requests, and memberamp; employer distribution and record management and retention), and the Digital Experience and Communication Service team (web services, creative services, and service experience including user experience research, design and content). The Job ResponsibilitiesThis co-op role will handle, prepare, review, categorize, digitize and archive a diverse set of physical documentation into one central SharePoint repository. This may include helping to support the creation of new content and procedures related to your projects.Learning OutcomesThe successful candidate can expect to gain experience in the following areas:

RequirementsThis opportunity is available to students working towards a diploma or bachelor #39;s degree in information management, library sciences or a related field.Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas would be an asset:
  • Ability to ensure accuracy and timeliness of procedure material
  • Attention to detail including detecting and correcting any errors
  • Troubleshooting skills related to documentation management
  • Comfort navigating and using SharePoint
  • Project status reports
Preference given to:
  • Proficiency in using scanners and imaging software
