Job Description

Position SummaryCommissionaires, Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) is looking for an Area Operations Manager to lead our Operations Teams up Island (north of the Malahat). While it is preferred the candidate be in the Nanaimo area, we will also consider qualified candidates who reside in the Comox Valley area.About CVIY Commissionaires Victoria (CVIY) is a full-service security services company operating as a Not-for-profit with a diverse customer base of commercial, residential and government accounts. CVIY has a mandate to provide meaningful employment to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP, their families and others who wish to contribute to the security and well-being of Canadians.The RoleThe Area Operations Manager reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is part of the Operational Leadership Team.The successful person will lead the Operations team up Island by nurturing existing client relationships, and creating innovative solutions to meet clients’ needs and drive revenue growth.This role will work closely with the Director of Business Solutions to help grow the business in these areas. This important role will help develop the organization’s strategic partnerships while aligning with CVIY’s Strategic Business Plan and corporate objectives.Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire our teams.
  • Passion for the customer and will lead customer relations in the region with the support of the team.
  • Conduct area assessments to get intelligence on opportunities and competitive activity.
  • Liaise with Business Solutions Director on the implementation of CVIY’s strategic, marketingamp; communications and plans.
  • Implementing new business opportunities, including contributing to Requests for Proposals, contract renewals and new contract development.
  • A positive contribution to the organizational culture, values and reputation in all CVIY markets and with all team members, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies.
  • Ensuring business activities are in accordance with CVIY’s social mandate and business plan goals
  • Perform best practices, offer expertise and product/service knowledge and delivery to ensure optimal business opportunities.
  • Help raise the visibility of Commissionaires in the region in the business community and amongst the public.
  • Develop strong business relationships to best manage existing contracts and attract new clients
  • Remain current on new security services, best practices and emerging technology that will “add value” to clients.
  • Know the competition and strive to position Commissionaires as the preferred security solutions company.
  • Work with CVIY recruiters; communicate staffing needs and oversee the assignment of guards to client sites.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
  • Track record of inspirational leadership.
  • University Degree in Business or Marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years related security industry experience (preferred)
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • A team player and self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Sound project leadership skills
  • Solid business acumen.
  • Interest and appreciation in the Corps of Commissionaires, its organization and mandate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel within the regions and occasionally to Victoria.
