Hybrid Work ModelThis position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the opportunity to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The opportunityWe are seeking an Assistant Director, IT Engineering join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada. The Assistant Director, IT Engineering manages and leads a team of Technical Solution Engineers and Application Developers who works closely with business and technology partners to deliver platforms that enable rapid, stable deployment of critical business applications and core services. The Team is responsible for technical integration within and across systems in the corporate product portfolio, ensuring the appropriate technical solutions are being delivered, appropriate governance is applied, risks and technical deficits are mitigated, issues are resolved and sound sustainable technical solutions are successfully implemented. The team ensures that the solutions implemented are as intended and that technical debt is both managed and maintainable. The Assistant Director will have proven ability to motivate, influence and coach others, resolve conflict and work in a changing environment.   • Post-secondary degree in Computer science, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading software engineering teams;
  • Broad technical experience including common architectural and design patterns across full-stack software development;
  • Hands-on experience with professional software engineering practices for the full Software Development Life Cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations;
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture design, configuration and implementation;
  • Experience with Integration Platforms, Relational Databases, Web Services, Enterprise Job Schedulers, Enterprise Reporting, Data Warehouse Solutions;
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Oracle, Java, Web Services and Technologies,
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
