Job Description

Working as an integral member of the site construction team, the Journeyman Carpenter (or working towards this as a carpenter) applies their experience and training in the execution of a variety of carpentry related tasks. With an eye for detail and passion for quality, the Journeyman aims to apply expert craft to deliver the high-end custom and multifamily homes Abstract is awarded for. ‪ Responsibilitiesamp; Duties:‬‬‬• Carry out a variety of carpentry services (framing and finishing) at a Journeyman level (will consider equivalent experience or apprentice level).• Execute jobs with minimal supervision while working alongside construction team on larger projects.• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and other specifications on a variety of structures related to the construction project. • Work with sub-trades in completing all projects.• Maintain a professional relationship with all site and company stakeholders.• Complete required administrative duties as required.• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.• Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and Employee Handbook standards. • Maintain professional appearance by wearing approved Abstract shirts and safety apparel.• Abide by expectation that all Abstract job sites are smoke, drug, and alcohol free.• Perform other construction related duties as assigned.• Uphold core values of “Quality, Passion, and Integrity” in all aspects of daily work.RequirementsQualifications, Skills, and Attributes:• Red Seal (Journeyman) or equivalent (four (4) years of) carpentry experience; will consider equivalent experience or apprentice level.• Demonstrated experience in residential framing, concrete form work, finishing, and general carpentry, all at a Journeyman level; cabinetmaker skills are desirable.• Must have own vehicle with clean driving record.• Must own all hand tools and basic power tools.• Possesses a high degree of attention to detail while enjoying challenging work as part of a team.• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs above shoulder height; climbing multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders throughout the day; ability to kneel, crouch, bend throughout the day; grasp/push/pull objects using both hands; willingness and ability to work at heights utilizing established safety controls.• Demonstrated ability to perform work without supervision.• Willing to take a supervisory role on the job site from time to time.• Computer literacy to include basic Microsoft office skills.• Expert command of written and spoken EnglishWork Schedule:The Journeyman Carpenter works a flexible schedule of full-time work and is required to be available on short notice in the best interest of the subordinate Site Superintendent and/or construction clients outside of normal business hours on occasion.
