The district employs over 2,100 educators and support staff and serves over 13,000 students. SD62 is currently seeking to fill the position of: District Principal – Capital Planning Start Date: August 1, 2024 The District Principal, Capital Planning is a key leadership position working under the direction of the Superintendent. This position is responsible for representing the educational aspects of district capital projects. The work is comprised of capital project areas including new school builds, seismic upgrades, annual facility grants and other areas. Working as the liaison educator between working groups and steering committees, this District Principal is the voice for learning and education within SD62’s Capital Projects teams. We are looking for candidates that: Strive for Personal Excellence Practice a Growth Mindset Think Critically and Creatively Effectively Communicate and Collaborate Build Relationships Foster Interconnectedness Model Leadership Excellence Encourage Employee Growth Use Systems Thinking Approach Provide a Strategic Direction Cultivate Community If you possess the above qualities, please submit a cover letter and resume outlining your education and experience in the following areas: A Master’s Degree in Education or related area A Bachelor’s Degree in Education A valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch A minimum of five years of recent and successful experience in a leadership position including a minimum of three years of recent and exemplary service as a principal/vice principal (grades K-12) at the school or district level leading programs, initiatives, and staff Demonstrated successful experience in some or all the following areas an asset: providing input into school builds, seismic upgrades, significant renovations, or school enhancements leading long range facilities planning, with a focus on upcoming developments and enrolment projections through regular updates of the District’s Long-Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) generating K-12 Enrolment Projections using Baragar facilitating Ministry of Education and Child Care (MoECC) submissions by developing Project Request Fact Sheets (PRFS) and other documentation to support annual capital plan submissions developing Request for Proposals (RFP), procuring, and purchasing equipment and furniture leading and facilitating public consultation for District Catchment processes and implementing new and/or adjusted catchment boundaries Experience leading in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum preferred In addition to clearly demonstrating the above, you must also include the names of two references which must include your immediate supervisor as well as one other reference who can speak to your leadership skills. Other references may be contacted with your prior permission. The salary range for this full-time District Principal, Capital Planning has a minimum salary of $153,083 per annum. Initial placement within the range is based on related education and experience. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
