This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.Your Key Responsibilities- Collecting, interpreting and analyzing data and information required to support electrical design decisions- Developing the design, documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements- Assisting in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team- Performing clash detection and updating designs to manage clashes with 3D software- Providing design, drafting, construction and commissioning services for buildings electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, door access, intrusion alarms, CCTV, Low Voltage systems, standby power, motor controls, cable/raceway routing and similar electrical work.- Performing calculations to analyze and design electrical system components.- Providing CAD/BIM drafting and design for a wide variety of projects, from conceptual stage through detailed design and construction.- Developing detailed electrical drawings and models from scratch and integrating into multidisciplinary drawing packages- Conducting site observation and/or inspection activities during design and/or construction phases of the project- Working closely with the Electrical Engineer and engineering team in recommending the best use of project tools in order to achieve project objectives- Escalating complex design decisions to senior technologist / engineer for resolution- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with project tools and software- Mentoring junior staff and ensuring project standards are enforced.- Performing QA/QC and peer review of work by junior staff.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Ability to coordinate work on several concurrent projects.- Working knowledge of electrical and building codes.- Working knowledge of general electrical engineering calculations.- Ability to solve problems using sound judgment, creativity and innovation.- Understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.- Proficient in relevant software programs including REVIT, AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat.- Effective written and verbal communication skills.- Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.- Thorough understanding of CAD/BIM Standards- Ability and willingness to supervise and mentor junior staff.Education and Experience- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in an engineering consulting environment.- Experience with Health Care related projects is considered and asset.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
