In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Working as an integral part of the Intensive Case Management (ICM) Team and under the direction of the ICM Team Leader, the role is that of a Public Health Nurse working in a multidisciplinary outreach team. The role is focused on engaging the hardest to reach population, who have a high level of needs but are not currently well connected to health related care, in core mental health, substance use and public health services. The ICM Nurse role also includes the provision of community clinics for the purpose of engaging the hardest to reach in HIV/STI/hepatitis testing and treatment. The ICM Nurse also provides support to the Medical Health Officer (MHO) in the control and prevention of communicable disease, as per Bill 23, Public Health Act, 2008.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceRegistration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN(C) registrant. STI Certification with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Immunization Competency BC.Graduation from a recognized nursing program with community or public health component. A minimum of 5 years #39; nursing experience, a minimum of 2 of which is public health-related, preferably in the area of reportable communicable disease. A minimum of six months of experience supporting mental health clients in a community setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.A valid BC driver #39;s license is required.Current CPR certification required.Skills And Abilities
