Pharmacist Viking, ABWe are currently hiring a Staff Pharmacist for a local, independently-owned pharmacy who is both a dedicated member of the local community and whose goal is to genuinely help people feel better. ResponsibilitiesThe pharmacist will be the primary resource for drug information and education to provide expert advice to health care professionals. They will assist the pharmacy manager in compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals while also monitoring drug prescribing, distribution, and therapy; to ensure the safe, effective, legal and economical use of drugs. They will maintain workload records and statistics, and ensure all legislation pertaining to pharmacy practice is upheld to the highest standards of practice’s organizational Code of Ethics. Advise customers on the selection and usage of prescription medication.Ask patients about other drugs they are taking or if they have existing medical conditions to prevent adverse side effects.Educate patients on the possible side effects of their medication and answer any questions they may have.Maintain medication profiles of patients, including registering narcotics and controlled drugs.Compound pharmaceutical products when necessary, including calculating and measuring correct quantities of drugs and other ingredients to fulfill prescriptions.Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies and medication.Ensure pharmaceuticals, including vaccines, are correctly packaged, distributed, prepared, and stored.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in pharmacy A member in good standing of the College of Pharmacists, including a valid licenseMinimum three years of experience within a retail pharmacy environmentAPA designation strongly preferred Computer proficiency with Word, Excel spreadsheets, Kroll, Netcare, and other database programs.Solid interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills.Effective leader and motivator of employees. Excellent written and oral communication skills Communicates effectively at all levels. Takes the initiative and exercises independent judgment.
