Your Opportunity:Come join our dynamic Calgary Rural Rehabilitation team! This temporary opportunity will be based out of Vulcan, and will be focused on supporting our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy programming in the Vulcan Community Health Centre. The Vulcan Community Health Centre provides Acute care General Medicine, Continuing Care, Emergency care, and outpatient services to patients and clients to Vulcan and surrounding areas. There are 8 acute care beds for General Medicine and 15 Continuing Care beds at VCHC. The rehab team also supports rehabilitation services at the Vulcan Extendicare Long Term Care facility (48 beds), and provides home care and outpatient rehab services. As the Therapy Assistant you will work with our existing rehabilitation team to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. Under the guidance of the OT and PT the TA provides individual and group treatment interventions, supports the rehab team with the maintenance and ordering of rehab supplies and equipment, and participates in program planning and development. Occasional travel to support home care clients may be required. You support multiple clinical areas such as acute care, long term care, and home care programs. In addition to performing your clinical role you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams. You will require a personal vehicle in good working order to provide home care services in Vulcan and the surrounding areas. A demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice to enhance patient health outcomes; ability to work independently within a complex and rapidly changing environment; ability to respect for diversity using a supportive, non-judgmental approach; conflict resolution, problem solving and critical thinking skills are all essential to succeed.Description:As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency.
