The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association requires an individual interested to work as part of our In Home Support Program in a home located in Saskatoon, SK.The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association (SFFA) exists to support and encourage foster families through education and advocacy, helping create healthy homes, positive environments, and brighter futures for children and youth in care across the province.The In Home Support Program provides support services for families requiring domestic supports or childcare. This support position requires an individual to assist the Foster Home in Childcare Support, in collaboration with the SFFA.As the Childcare Worker your role is to provide direct support to Foster Parents or Caregivers in meeting the daily needs of the children or youth placed in their homes. Although childcare is included in the delivery of supports, the primary role of the Childcare Worker is to assist with childcare while under the direct supervision of the Foster Parent or Caregiver, or their designate (Babysitter, Respite Provider).ResponsibilitiesSupervise and monitor the safety of children/youthAssist with children’s daily routines relating to eating, resting, hygiene, and bathroom useOrganize and participate in recreational activities which may include outside play or structured developmental activitiesAssist children with homework as requiredSupport the emotional and social development of children and youthAccompany children to and from school, appointments, or outings as requested and agreed upon with the SFFA Program Coordinator and the Foster Parent or CaregiverIdentify any signs of a child’s emotional or developmental challenges and discuss with the Foster Parent or CaregiverEducationMinimum High School Diploma; Post Secondary education in early childhood education is considered an assetExperienceMust be 18 years of age or older1 years of relevant childcare experience in addition to educationCriminal Record Check inclusive of Vulnerable Sector CheckValid Driver’s LicenseJob experience preferred in one of the following fields: daycare, educational assistantKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEffective organizational skills including time management, the ability to think clearly and logically, to problem solve effectively, and the ability to function with minimal supervisionMaintain a high degree of professionalism regarding demeanor, dress, language, communication, and boundaries with co-workers, Foster Parents or CaregiversHave a high level of interpersonal and communication skills for team collaborationEffective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication skillsComfortable with and ability to remain calm during high stress situationsImpeccable working relationships and knowledge of partnering agenciesEnsuring personal self-care routines relating to mental, emotional, and physical healthShifts for this position are Mondays 4:00pm-8:00pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 12:00am-8:00am, Every second Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm.The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association is committed to creating the best possible work environment for our team members and offers the following benefits package:Medical, Dental, VisionBasic and Optional Life Insurance for Employees, Spouse, and/or DependentsTraining and ongoing professional development may be availableThe Saskatchewan Foster Families Association appreciates all applications; however only those selected for an interview will be notified.
