Job Description

SEASONAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - Public Works, ROADWAYSThe City of Martensville has three (3) openings for a Full-Time Temporary Seasonal Operator I in the Roadways department. WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Earned Days Off (EDOs) scheduled every third Friday.
  • This position is subject to layoff, with an employment period of approximately 6 months annually.
  • The 2024 employment period will be April 29 to October 24, 2024.
This role performs a wide variety of duties and is responsible for general maintenance and operation of infrastructure in areas such as pavement and granular road maintenance, concrete repair, storm and drainage operations, signage and pavement markings, dust proofing, street sweeping, mowing, and minor equipment care, and maintenance.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants must:
    • Be available to work April 29 to October 24, 2024.
    • Be safety conscious and demonstrate a high level of attentiveness to their own personal safety as well as that of their co-workers and the public.
    • Be able to perform physically strenuous work and to work outdoors under various weather conditions.
    • Have a valid Class 3A Driver #39;s License
    • Be able to competently operate equipment up to 100 hp, as well as other equipment
    • Have their Grade 12 diploma
  • Municipal work experience is considered an asset.
  • Applicants are subject to a criminal record check.
RATE OF PAY:
  • As per CUPE local Agreement; Probationary Rate: $24.08 / hour. Full Rate: $26.75 / hour
