This long-term contract / contract / contract / contract / contract / temporary opportunity for a Database Administrator is in Waterloo, Ontario.What you get to do every day- Maintain all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installations and configurations as needed- Restore service to databases as outages happen, including after hours and on weekends- Provide guidance on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues- Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms- Find the most effective solution for increasing performance, including purchasing hardware and making changes to the server configuration or index/query- Verify that SLA objectives for database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are met in design and execution- Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queriesJob Requirements:- 3+ years of database experience- Linux System Administration experience- Command of PostgreSQL- Apache Tomcat experience preferred- Deep understanding of virtualization- Skilled at making improvements to query performance- Experience developing and maintaining documentation- Prior experience in production and on-call environments- Storage and server hardware experience a plus- Good understanding of relational database management systemsRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
