  • Demonstrate leadership, oversee safety and direct the activity of seasonal staff assigned to the research program
  • Train and direct the development of staff; supervise and manage performance with timely and appropriate feedback and review
  • Work with the Research Agronomist to plan and conduct the field testing of designated research material using defined methods that will ensure accuracy and optimize results under experimental protocol
  • Conduct preliminary yield evaluation trials on experimental lines including tasks such as trial design and layout, planting, pesticide application, note taking, harvest and quality testing
  • Produce pure seed of designated lines
  • Assist in conducting field tours and provide information on research program
  • Maintain a detailed logbook of activities
  • Monitor results and check for accuracy of information
  • Gather, summarize and input experimental data
  • Assist in the recruitment of seasonal staff
What you will bring:
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Diploma in Agriculture, B.Sc. in Agriculture an asset
  • Eligible for membership in the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists
  • Excellent coordinating and communication skills to deal with a number of staff
  • Solid organizational skills to handle and wide range of research projects
  • Knowledge and experience with experimental design, data and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of farm equipment and machine operation. Ability to repair equipment is desired
  • Computer experience in the use of databases and spreadsheets
  • Concern for order; expertise; flexibility; teamwork and cooperation; achievement orientation/self-motivation; attention to detail; supervisory skills; willingness to travel
  • Class 1 drivers license or willingness to obtain "G" endorsement is an asset
