Job Description

High Voltage Field Service TechnicianOverview:The Electrical Testing Technologist will promote quality service to ensure employee, customer and supplier satisfaction. They will perform installation, testing and verification of low voltage and medium voltage relays in the field. Having excellent communication skills will be very important as they will interface with clients, owners, consultants and construction crews. What youll do in the role:
  • Maintain or Commission Power distribution equipment including: Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, HV Switches, HV/MV/LV Cables, and Instrument Transformers.
  • Be able to perform pre-service and maintenance testing for low voltage electronic trip units.
  • Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line, logic diagrams and SLDs. Inspect, test, operate and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematic.
  • Be familiar with industry Codes and Standards (OESC, IEEE, NETA).
  • Familiar with testing different types of high voltage and low voltage equipment.
  • Report, record, compute and process electrical test information in accordance with accepted standard practices.
  • Co-ordinate sales efforts with Branch Manager, such as but not limited to, repeat business, quotations and customer contact.
  • Be able and willing to mentor and provide on the job training to HV junior staff.
  • Exercise due diligence in the care and operation of corporate assets.
  • Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Manager.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for out of town commissioning or maintenance projects.
  • Co-ordinate the day to day functions on a job by job basis, such as but not limited to, compliance with all Health and Safety standards and regulations, availability of necessary resources such as manpower, equipment and materials, resolving conflicts, timely and accurate submission of paperwork.
What were looking for:
  • 3-year Electrical Engineering Technology or 2 year Electrical Engineering Technician program
  • Currently registered or be able to register as C.Tech or C.E.T with OACETT within 3 months of employment
  • Valid Class G Drivers License
  • Knowledge/Experience using Doble M4100 to perform transformer diagnostic tests.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Omicron/ 3-phase relay tester to perform protective relay testing.
  • Knowledge/Experience of commissioning utility grade substations.
  • Knowledge/Experience of performing HV/MV Circuit Breaker Timing Tests.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
