Job Description

Lead Rowing Coach – Adult Programs (1 Position)This role requires a strong ability to communicate to adult athletes with clarity, in terms of program content as well as athlete expectations, selection and participation. The Lead Coach – Adult Programs will report to the Head Coach.The Lead Coach – Adult Programs will represent the program and the Club with the professionalism, respect and leadership. The time commitment and compensation will be as follows:

  • 35-40 hours/week for approx. 13-15 weeks @ $18.00/hour. Starting as early as May 16, 2022
Responsibilities:
  • Lead role in the planning, development and implementation of a training program for (Masters & Masters Development) and Adult Recreational programs in coordination with Head Coach.
  • Coach Masters and Masters Development groups and oversee and organize coaching for the Adult Recreational program
  • Provide mentoring of and direction to Senior and Junior Coaches assisting with adult programs
  • Provide technical feedback to athletes and facilitate athlete learning
  • Responsible for competitive crew selection, regatta registration and for coordinating equipment usage with other Lead Program Coaches and the Head Coach
  • Assist in the enforcement of SNRC rules & safety policies, including adherence to COVID restrictions
  • Continually work to promote and recruit members for the SNRC
  • Maintain an energetic, inclusive and positive attitude toward all athletes both on and off the water
  • Fueling boat motors, small boat repair and organizing boat trailer
  • Assisting with general club clean up and maintenance
Requirements:
  • Must be under 30 years of age (requirement for CSJ grant funding)
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of competitive rowing experience as a coach and/or athlete
  • Must have motor boat license (Pleasure Craft Operator)
  • Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (prior to start date)
  • Must have previous competitive and recreational coaching experience
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills
  • Must have completed a minimum of RCA Coach Weekend 1 training
  • RCA Coach Weekend 2 training is an asset

Experience:
  • of competitive rowing experience as a coach or athlete: 4 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
  • Rowing Canada Coach Weekend 1 Training (required)
  • Pleasure craft operator license (preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred)
