Keller offers leave provisions (personal time off, sick time, special leaves), and 10 paid statutory holidays.Job Summary and Role Overview: We are currently seeking an Area Manager to join our Regional Team in Winnipeg, MB. The incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of office personnel, Project Managers, and Projects. Responsible for all aspects of bidding and estimating, Project Management and direction of the project team, including P/L management, change management, client recruitment, revenue and cost reporting, project budgets, client relations and management.Responsibilities:Financial:

  • Overall P/L responsibility for region
  • Annually proposes budget for the area, specifying margin and revenue targets and re-forecasting
  • Work closely with Operation Manager to assist with capex requirements and overall shop performance
  • Manage revenue forecasting, project budgets, change management, and cost reporting and cost control
  • Review completed projects regarding cost and performance
  • Analyze various project execution to ensure company viability
  • Assist with collection of outstanding payments from clients
  • Ensure profit margins are achieved
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project financials
Business Development, Proposal Preparations & Execution:
  • Strong contractual awareness and ability to negotiate favorable contract terms
  • Project Manage jobs (as required) adhering to Keller’s processes and systems
  • Leads the area team in accordance with the strategy in the Branch Business Plan
  • Develops accurate market knowledge for future strategy development for the area
  • Recognizes the importance to be knowledgeable of all Keller policies and ensures that they are adhered to (i.e., safety, quality, drug testing, travel, etc.)
  • Develops relationships with customer decision maker(s)
  • Supports, controls, and evaluates the business development actions of those in the area
  • Organizes and delegates the incoming inquiries and leads to the Branch Estimators/Project Managers
  • Manages the strategy for closing of proposals, analyzing risks, and setting the selling price; directly or indirectly involved in the selling strategy and supports the branch team in this process; at times undertakes the role of bid leader for some proposals
People Management:
  • Collaborate with other branches as required for resource synergies
  • Ensure all projects in your portfolio are on or below budget by through competitive tendering of scopes of work and negotiating buyouts of sub-contracts based on overall value of the bid and schedule impacts
  • Resource allocation of assigned team to assigned projects, pairing the right team members to the appropriate projects
  • Ensure collaboration between your team as well as the broader team
  • Ensure all schedules are being tracked regularly on an actual vs baseline basis and that the client and vendors are aligned with the targeted milestones
  • Periodic inspection of construction sites to ensure quality is being delivered, sites are maintained very well. Working with the field operations team to ensure corrective measures are taken immediately
  • Proactively prevent disputes from arising. Where they do your responsibility is to carry them to a swift conclusion with support of senior leadership
  • Provides guidance, direction, coaching, and support to direct reports to maximize individual and overall department performance. Ensures support managers within area of responsibility also provide guidance, direction, etc. to their direct reports
  • Addresses employee concerns and complaints appropriately.
  • Takes appropriate action to develop direct reports including, but not limited to, preparing and monitoring career development plans, promotions, demotions, lateral moves, corrective action, and progressive discipline. Ensures direct reports also take appropriate action with their employees.
Safety and Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
  • Be an advocate for safety and adhere to Keller HSEQ policies through interactions on site with crews
  • Ensures compliance with all Keller and OSHA safety requirements
  • In the event of a safety incident, work in partnership with safety Personnel to support employees and project management teams per Keller policy
  • Ensures that work is performed per the contract quality requirements
  • Logs all quality nonconformance issues and notify management for resolution
  • Exercises stop work authority for Safety and Quality issues
  • Fully understands and complies with Keller risk management policies and procedures
  • Recognizes major risks and take appropriate measures to reduce risk to the company
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 15 years geotechnical, construction or industry related experience preferred
  • Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills necessary
Business Acumen and Leadership Qualities:
  • Honesty and integrity, sense of ownership, collaboration and building a strong culture of engagement/team environment
  • Strong understanding of claim management and contract negotiations
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and managerial skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
