The position will be in Winnipeg, Mb.Summary: Works on construction projects/branch yard requiring worker with specified experience and ability to work under close supervision by performing the following duties.Responsibilities:

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Below we have listed the essential duties and responsibilities of this employee. Please note that other duties may be assigned.
    • Performs the functions required utilizing friction/mechanical and hydraulic cranes.
    • Read and understand the crane operator’s manual for the particular crane being operated by the employee.
    • Read and understand the crane load chart.
    • Wear all safety Personal Protective Equipment when on jobsite at all times.
    • Adhere to and help enforce all safety requirements, especially those related to the crane and all attached equipment.
    • Understand and use the standard hand signals for the operation of a crane.
    • Inspect crane and related equipment for operational and safety factors, noting/correcting and notifying the Job Site Supervisor of any problems or deficiencies. Do this before operation every day utilizing the daily, weekly, monthly, semi annual and/or yearly check lists. This shall be done before any equipment is started and or moved at the beginning of the day.
    • Clean and lubricate crane (to include greasing undercarriage and ALL grease points, adding all engine fluids and power unit fluids) daily as per crane operators manual and specifications.
    • Report to the Job Site Supervisor immediately, any damage or deficiencies to the equipment, as they occur.
    • Assist in any crane related activities.
    • Work directly with welders/management to fabricate material for upcoming work.
    • Manage yard inventory and housekeeping of those materials.

Interprovincial Red Seal Certification. Understanding of steel sizes (HP sections, W sections, pipe, etc.)..Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
